Kochi is going to have Water Taxis, akin to New York or Dubai. Kitco Ltdhave called tenders for starting and operating such services on behalf ofKerala Tourism's subsidary company KTIL. The services are focused on developing the Tourist circuit between the Muziris Heritage sites and Kochi City.
Three Tourist Hop-On Hop off air-conditioned Water Bus with 25 seating capacity will be launched as a circular service connecting Ernakulam Mainland City with Fort Kochi and Muziris Heritage sites with a service at every 30 minutes during day time.
KTIL in support of Kochi Metro Rail Limited will also have services of five air-conditioned water taxis with 6 seating capacity each. 3 will be maintained in Kochi and 2 will be maintained at Muziris Site, available on hire basis. More services of Water taxis will be launched, based on demand seen for these services.
The boats will have premium facilities, including LED television sets behind seats, wi-fi connectivity, GPS monitoring etc.
